What to see and do
Museums
At the National Art Museum you will find an exquisite collection of paintings and sculptures by Maputo's most prestigious contemporary artists. The Natural History Museum is one of the main icons of Mozambican culture, where you can be amazed by 14 elephant fetuses, a symbol of wildlife, and ethnological pieces.
Paradise Islands
Inhaca Island is located just over two hours from Maputo Bay and has 150 species of coral, more than 300 species of birds and four species of turtle. It is recommended for diving due to its rich aquatic biodiversity. From Inhaca Island you can take a boat trip to Ilha Portuguesa, a nature reserve in Maputo, where you can find stunning white sand beaches and lagoons.
Parks and Nature Reserves
The Kruger National Park is 3h30 from Maputo and is part of the Kruger-Canyons Biosphere Reserve (UNESCO). It has more than 2 million hectares of wildlife and is the largest protected area in South Africa. There you can find: lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, leopards, Hornbill, Kori Bustard, vulture, Pel's fishing owl and the Saddle-billed stork. The Maputo Elephant Reserve, also known as the Maputo Special Reserve, is located south of Maputo city and its function is to protect the elephant population.
Shopping and Entertainment
The Polana Shopping Center, located on Avenida Julius Nyerere, the city's main commercial artery, is one of Maputo's most prestigious shopping areas and is excellent for shopping due to the quality of its stores. At the Polana Casino on Maputo's Avenida Marginal, opposite Mira Mar beach, you'll find a place to have fun with a wide variety of gaming machines.
How to get to the hotel
By Plane
Book a flight to Maputo International Airport (MPM,FQMA) also known as Lourenço Marques Airport or Mavalane International Airport, the largest and best-connected airport in Mozambique. It is the best option, as it is only 3km from the center of Maputo.
Rent-a-Car
In the arrivals area of the airport you can rent a car through car rental companies. Another option is to make a reservation in advance.
